Hello

Tessa has experience working those already in recovery from substance abuse/addictions, anxiety disorders, LGBTQIA+ community, new parents and stress/burnout.

She believe all humans can recover and there isn't one straight path to reach a destination. Everyone's journey is different therefore, there are different paths that lead to the life one wants to live.

Tessa tends to adopt mindfulness-based and somatic practices as my clinical approach. Being a yoga therapist, she believes that the body stores our story, emotions, and memories. We access these experiences through talk therapy as well as through bodywork. She incorporates principles of yoga, not only postures, but also breathing exercises, meditations, and the ethical and moral codes of yoga (yamas and niyamas), if appropriate to your individual needs.

Tessa considers herself a relational therapist and am engaged in the therapeutic process, meaning that she is direct but warm.

Education, Training and Certifications

Tessa is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Arizona, both licenses allow her to practice independently. Tessa is also a certified yoga therapist. She received my Masters of Education in Counseling from DePaul University in June 2015 and holds a Bachelors Degree from Colorado State University in psychology and human development and family studies.

Tessa has previously worked as a primary counselor at an addiction intensive outpatient program in Chicago, IL and Scottsdale, AZ. She recognizes that recovery is a unique journey for each individual, working with you to develop a recovery program that meets your needs.

Alongside clinical training, Tessa received her 200-hour yoga teaching certification in 2014. She has additional training in yoga for PTSD. Tessa also has experience teaching yoga classes to high school-aged youth and facilitating yoga groups at an outpatient treatment center for individuals in recovery from substance abuse. She has completed level 1 and 2 of trauma-informed yoga therapy certification as well as completing her 500-hour experienced CYT certification. Tessa has also completed the full 800-hour IAYT-accredited yoga therapist certification through Inner Peace Yoga Therapy and am a certified yoga therapist through IAYT.
